Chemical peeling involves applying chemical agents to the skin to create controlled injury, with the aim of revitalising and rejuvenating it. After this controlled injury, the goal is for healthy skin to emerge with the desired appearance. Mixtures of different acids allow the skin to regenerate more effectively in a controlled manner.
This method can be used to treat dermatological conditions, sun-related pigmentation, freckles and areas with precancerous potential. Superficial chemical peeling may be performed in 4–8 sessions at intervals of 1–4 weeks. Medium-depth peeling can be performed in 2–4 sessions at intervals of 2–4 months. Deep chemical peeling has a long recovery period. It is generally not repeated and helps the skin regain the desired appearance within a short period.
